What is VeeSTeeExtifier?
------------------

VeeSTeeExtifier is a GUI application intended to make it easier to update instances of VeeSTeeEx wrappers to a new version.
Despite its name, it is not yet possible to actually newly wrap VST plugins with the VeeSTeeEx wrapper.
This functionality maybe might come in the future, but I do not have a high priority for this.

How to use?
-----------------

Preperation:
To be able to update any instances of VeeSTeeEx wrappers, you might first need to download the zip package of the new version
to which you want to update to from 'https://www.kvraudio.com/product/veesteeex-by-zonderp-productions'.
Either unzip the downloaded package directly into the directory where 'VeeSTeeExtifier.exe' is located in (should most probably be the directory
where you just opened this ReadMe.txt file from) or copy ALL of the somewhere else extraced 'VeeSTeeEx-??-?-R-?.?.?.????.dll' files to this directory.
This should be 4 variations of the VeeSTeeEx wrapper in total - two for 32 bit and two for 64 bit.
Action:
Start 'VeeSTeeExtifier.exe' by double clicking on it or use 'Open' from the mouse right click context menu while the executable is selected.
In the dropdown control at the bottom of the application windows you should see the most actual version of the VeeSTeeEx wrapper.
In case more than one version of the VeeSTeeEx wrapper is already available in the directory where you started 'VeeSTeeExtifier.exe' from,
the newest one will be preselected here.
Now browse for a directory where in it or in any sub folder of it there are already instances of VeeSTeeEx located which wrap VST plugins.
Do so by clicking on the 'Browse' button in the top line of the window.
To reduce scan time, make sure you select the deepest directory possible by which all the VeeSTeeEx wrappers you want to update to a new version can be found.
Then click on 'Scan', watch the progress and see how the list will be populated with found VeeSTeeEx wrappers.
You should be able to cancel the scan at any time.
Found VeeSTeeEx wrappers which are not yet on the same or a higher version then the version selected in the dropdown control at the bottom
will automatically be checked for update in the first 'DoIt' column of the list.
In case there would already be VeeSTeeEx wrappers which are up-to-date, they will not be checked in this column and appear in green.
Also it is not possible to manually check them there.
After the scan is finished and the list populated with found VeeSTeeEx wrappers and at least one is checked for update to the new version,
just click the 'Update' button on the bottom line.
The selected VeeSTeeEx wrappers will be updated to the version as specified on the left of the 'Update' button and turn green and unchecked.
That's it! Except for one more important thing to mention:
IMPORTANT:
As you might be aware, VeeSTeeEx wrappers are not only available for 32 bit and 64 bit, but also come in two flavors.
One, which will always report the 'Unique ID' of the wrapped VST plugin to the host/DAW, and the other which reports its own 'Unique ID'.
The first flavor is the 'original' which was available from the beginning and the latter one was introduced in version 1.1.0 in September 2023.
That latter one is the one to be used for DAWs/hosts like 'Presonus Studio One' or 'Native Instruments Machine II'.
If you need that version, select the version which shows up with the 'Unique ID' appendix from the version dropdown on the bottom of the window.
You may use the list's column 'VeeSTeeEx own UID' to see, in which flavor you installed the found VeeSTeeEx wrappers.
In case they appear with 'True' here, you probably should select the version with the 'Unique ID' appendix for the update,
otherwise the one without it.

System requirements:
--------------------

VeeSTeeExifier should run under Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11.
